One wrist down...

We had an intramural Ultimate game last night (I play with my ward). The team we were playing was very fast and very tall. So we had a pretty strong disadvantage to start. I was playing deep safety when one of their guys came sprinting down for a long throw. The disc was in the air and were both sprinting full speed. Knowing he has the height advantage I jump a little early hoping to get a block before it gets by us, at which point I'd be able to do nothing to stop him. My jumping caused him to jump early as well, so we both missed it, which is fine with me. The problem came after I swiped at the disc and missed. It was at this point that I looked down and realized that due to jumping really high amid a fast sprint I had ended up much more horizontal than I wanted to be. So when I looked down I found it odd that my feet were not anywhere near being underneath my torso. I know that I'm going to hit hard, and I know I should just take the fall with my body. But reflexes are reflexes and I found my arms out in front of me. I landed HARD on my right wrist, and it made some noises that it probably shouldn't have, and I couldn't move it very much. So I called an injury, and subbed out. Now I can't move it very far without intense pain. My first Ultimate injury, and it looks like I hurt my wrist typing or something.... lame.

I'll probably go see a doctor later today after classes, because that would be the responsible thing to do. My guess is that I sprained it bad. Hopefully it's nothing worse than that.
