Summer Job
30 March 2005 @ 04:00 AM MST
Current Music: Xfiles Music (on TV)
Current Mood: soo Tired...
Sitting at work... watching X-files, 3 o'clock in the morning... get to walk in the dark... might be a little creepy... this is the 3rd episode in a row.

So Aetna called me on Monday right before class, so I went into the hall. They want to hire me back doing mostly the same thing I did last summer. Except this time I'll be part of a group of Interns (yay, people my age to work with). They're also giving me an extra $1.50 an hour (woot).

They won't make me take another drug test since I worked for them last summer. But I need to find a fax machine so I can send in my signature on an agreement form.

So I'll be back at Aetna in Middletown this summer... the job starts on May 31 and ends Aug 19... so I'll get a month off at the beginning of the summer... time to relax and kick back and mod my Xbox out...

Current Music: Nothing at the moment
Current Mood: tired.. very full
My stomach feels very full... I ate too many sugar cookies...

So this past week went pretty well... Took a test, have some more tests this week... then just a couple of weeks before finals...

Got a new phone, and new service plan. I'm now on Verizon (free calling anyone on Verizon woot) and I got the Samsung SCH-A670 phone, pretty nice. I still have the same phone number too.

Yesterday we had cleaning checks, so I had to get up and clean the sinks / hallway.. Then I pumped some air into my bike tires and rode up to Unversity Mall in Orem. I wanted to see if the Verizon store would transfer my numbers from my old phone to my new phone, and they said, "sure, for 10 dollars." so I was like, "umm... no thanks (jerks)"... and then I went to the food court, got Chick-Fil-A (a Chicken sandwich, fruit-cup, and lemonade) and manually enterred all the numbers I cared about into my new phone.

Last night was the Mr. Mormon pageant for my ward... It was pretty funny (it's supposed to be funny) just alot of guys doing random stuff for "talents" and "sports wear". Dan and Gary were in it, but neither of them won wink . Gary's talent was a skit, which is called a "peanut butter skit." He had like 8 people walk on stage and use the peanut butter as something (hand cream, lotion, shaving cream....) and then he comes in being "hungry" and scrapes the peanut butter off each person onto a piece of bread and then bitse the 'sandwich'. Here's his little secret though, he only put the peanut butter on the very bottom of the bread, then folded it in half, and ate part that didn't have any peanut butter on it... oh ya... I was the shaving cream person, so I had peanut butter all over my face... it was pretty gross...

Afterwards we were just chillin in the apartment and it seriously felt like after prom for some reason... it was kind of strange....

Today, let's see, I got up and ate breakfast... then I went door-to-door asking for Vinegar. After I collected enough Vinegar, I got the egg dyes ready. Then We went to choir practice (at Dan's insistance) (Mind you I still haven't showered or properly dressed). I got back, and tossed some eggs into the dyes, and hopped in the shower. (30 minutes until church) I got out of the shower and threw some pants on, (20 minutes til church). I shaved with a real razor and then brushed my teeth (8 minutes til church). Then I threw the rest of my suit on and we went to church (oh yah, Dan had Bri take a picture of us dressed in our Sunday best, since this is the first time I've worn a suit all year).

At church we had Easter lessons.. in Sacrament meeting it was sort of an Easter Music Cantata-ish thing... The choir sang (which I was now a part of) and afterwards I was drafted into a Quartet for 2 weeks from today... oy.. now I have to learn how to sing.... and learn the song...

Then I ate dinner (seasoned chicken, shredded mexican cheese mix, shredded lettuce, fire sauce, tortillas.... mmm... a nice traditional Easter feast... ) Not that it bothered me to not have an Easter Dinner... We never really had them back home.... Then I was relaxin on the couch watching Malcolm in the Middle.. and I get guilted into going to the Old Folks Home to sing.... That's 2 good deeds in one day...

Then back to the apartment, where Brant and Dan were locked out, so I let them in. Then I relaxed for a bit, and now I'm at work....

Lan Party - Xbox Modding
21 March 2005 @ 07:26 PM MST
Current Music: Nadda - work
Current Mood: Not too shabby
So on Friday we had a LAN Party, it was pretty good. PC Club came and dropped off a bunch of Door Prizes. We had UT2K4 tournament, but my team wasn't very good, and we lost. I got pretty sick of First Person Shooters, and thoroughly enjoyed some WCIII later in the evening. Which reminds me, I still need to buy WCIII: Frozen Throne. I got a little bank of 3 Blue LEDs from the Door Prize selection.

I, of course, went straight to work with those things, first by breaking them out of their little housing. Then I took apart my Xbox and popped the jewel off the top (the little Xbox logo, that's in plastic and is green). This is accomplished by setting the top in the freezer for an hour or so and then using a flat-headed screwdriver to pry it off. Then I took the bus to Lowe's (this was all on Saturday) and bought a cordless Dremel rotary tool. After that charged up I sanded off all the green paint on the bottom of the jewel, and then polished it up a little bit, so it's fairly clear, with a little bit of diffusion in the plastic. Then I cut out a hole underneath where the jewel sits, so that it has a lip around the edge to support it.

I plugged the LEDs into the power from the harddrive (they had a pass-through MOLEX connector) and then ran them up into the space under the jewel hole. Oh yah, I also had to cut a hole through the aluminum heat dissapater that is part of the top cover. I took some cellophanish material (actually a fruit bag from the grocery store) and crumpled up part of it and placed it over the LEDs. Then I placed the Jewel back on top, and taped it down. I will eventually glue the jewel back on, but I'm waiting to get my hot glue gun from Erin's place. I also went and switched the leads on the power LED so that it glows red instead of green when you turn it on. You can see some pictures here, and here, and here

Current Music: Finger Eleven - One Thing
Current Mood: Sooo Tired...
Just did a little catching up on old things...
There's a new link on the right.. goes to SongMeanings.net. It's a good site, let's people comment on the meanings of song lyrics, and post lyrics... I've got some songs up there from the Summer in-between Junior and Senior Year of high school... back before the site got totally revamped...
I posted them under the name Kokopelli...

By posting this I'm also hoping the little calendar on the right will update to March....
[edit]
Oh yah.. had a dream last night that I was visiting Sandy in Philadelphia... and I took the bus there... and then wandered around the city looking for her and her campus... and managed to find people that knew her, and took me to her... and then she showed me her apartment (but she doesn't have one at the moment...) and then she put a shirt in the oven.. (must be from Seinfeld where Kramer heats his clothes in the oven, which was on the other day).... And I was happy (but confused about the oven)...
