Ever wonder what 38 dozen cookies looks like? No? Well, this is what it looks like:

COOKIES
But Wait, that's not 38 dozen, we still have these cookies to count:
more Cookies

It took 11.5 hours, but I did indeed make/bake all of those myself. With the help of my trusty new KitchenAid Mixer (Artisan series, 5 quart, 325 watt, Empire Red). Apparently my Mom wanted the same mixer, and is jealous that I have it.

100% Microsoft Free

Current Mood: Hungry
So I decided to try out Ubuntu as my next Linux type on my desktop. Windows was acting up, so I finally got my motivation back to get rid of it, as I meant to do at the beginning of the summer, but never got around to doing. Things I like about Ubuntu:

1. The Live CD is the Install CD. (Windows: Nope)
2. Install is quite automated, and took under 30 minutes. (Windows: 1 hour min)
3. Automatic Updates worked well, and completely updated the system in another 30 minutes. (Windows: 2-3 hours of constantly rebooting and downloading more stuff....)
4. Popular and useful applications installed by default: OpenOffice, Gaim, Firefox, Media Players... (Windows: nothing I actually want)

Hopefully none of my classes this year will demand us to use Windows, and I'll be able to remain MS free. And I speak of it like a disease, because it is.

Spam Bots are out in force

Current Music: The whir of the fan in my computer
Current Mood: Been Better...
So I was checking the web server logs today as I often do. I have a small obsession with checking out what searches people do on search engines to get to my site, and to see how many hits I'm getting.

It appears that the spam bots think I'm an easy target. Today as of 4:00pm MST I've gotten over 250 hits, all of which appear to be spam bots attempting to post comments, but being kicked away because they don't pass my simple anti-bot system. Too bad they're not all real people, I'd feel really popular. I have installed Google Analytics though, so I'll start being able to see more detailed information about how my blog is being viewed.

Hope you're all having a good time. Come back soon.

Another week gone by...

Current Music: The Killers - All These Things That I've Done
Current Mood: Slightly less mad
So I'm not quite as upset as I was anymore... Had two decent friday evenings, a good field trip on the 4th, and a movie night tonight. I've gotten alot of good work done at work and the Board. I'm currently the Lead Developer of Aviones (on sourceforge) and I have to merge back together two forked branches. I haven't put much work into Flacenstein though, so I'll need to find time for that again. I'm also working on helping Alan get the little robot (nicknamed 'gringo') alive again. I spent most of the week updating old rotted code to function properly in the newer Visual Studio, and on Windows XP.

My Future:
I spoke with my boss about graduate school to get at least a vague idea about how that all works. At this point I think it could be very likely that I will be working towards a Master's Degree a year and 2 months from now. I figure I'll start there, and if I really like it, I'll switch to the Ph.D. program, and if not, then it's only 2 years instead of 4/5/6....

I've also decided that should I still be in Provo next year, for some amount of time into the future, that I'll be buying a house, enough of this renting crap. I figure if I buy a house with 3 bedrooms, Brady and Josh could move in, and we could split the mortgage payment 3 ways so that should be manageable. And I fully trust both of them to make their end of the deal so it wouldn't be a problem. I plan this for a couple of reasons. 1: It will be nice to live somewhere nice, where I don't have to deal with silly rules. 2: Any money paid in rent is gone forever, money paid to a mortgage payment is almost like putting it into the bank, since (ideally) you'll get it back when you sell the house.
