The Last Train From Paris
30 October 2004 @ 02:09 AM MST
Current Music: None
Current Mood: Mysterious
So tonight we went to a dinner party of "How to Host A Murder". Each person is given a role to play. When you arrive you're given a little booklet that contains information you'll need. There is a series of rounds that, in our case, were accompanied by a course of a meal. At each round you turn the page and read more information about what your character knows. Some of it you are to try to conceal, and some of it you have to divulge during the round. At the last round you make your accusations about who did it, then pass books to the left, and turn the final page to read each character's story about what happened to them during the evening.

It was alot of fun, none of us had ever done it before. It was quite difficult to maintain a French accent, I kept slipping into a British accent, because some of the other people used them, and they're so much easier than French accents. I was Duke Schwarzhe B.U. Klare of the French Army (hence the accent). The event took place on June 13, 1940; the night Paris was taken by German troops (hence the Title).
I won't reveal anything, lest someone reading this participate in the same story.

And tomorrow I look forward to doing about 18 hours of work on my Program.

Making good progress on my Program due Thursday, hopefully I can finish it up tomorrow, and start working on my other Program that's due Tuesday, and that I have yet to start... Also need to get to the rough draft of the paper I have due Monday for my New Testament class.

Sandy met with the missionaries today ( big grin ) . That makes me happy, and I hope it makes her happy too. I want to try to get some pictures of campus and stuff sometime and post them here.. I wish I had more time... Next semester.. 14 credit hours is going to be nice...

I just found out the archives are broken... if you try to view them they show up all screwy... so I'll try to fix this sometime when I have time... probably in mid-November...

Ya, so my day consisted of eating breakfast, working from 2 - 6, programming from 6:15 until 11:30, with a break for eating dinner and scrubbing the kitchen floor.

I did make brownies last night, used a mix and added a glob of peanut butter.. I must admit they are bangin' brownies...

Sleepy time... Trans-Siberian Orchestra is way cool, by the way... someone should by me a cd of them sometime... (hint, hint) (especially since Sandy is the only to read this) (hint) razz

Randomness

Current Music: Ataris - I Won't Spend Another Night Alone
Current Mood: Sleepy
Kind of a random weekend:

Friday: Classes, Labs, HW, chilling in the apartment, then went to watch Willow in Apt. 37... girls that the guys in my apartment are friends with.

Saturday: Cleaning the kitchen for cleaning checks. After mopping the floor the manager says it's not clean enough... yet none of use can figure out how to make it cleaner.... Programming homework.. not finished yet... went and watch What Lies Beneath over at Liberty Square.... another apartment of girls that the guys in my apartment are friends with. Dan pimped it up on the loveseat with the two girls, and I had the couch to myself and Lincoln voluntarily sat on the floor.... The fact that no girls express the slightest interest in me (except to hook up their DVD players, and fix their computers) makes it alot easier to love Sandy (not that thats hard to begin with), and to focus on school.

Sunday (to be): I have to work from 2-6, so no church for me this week.... probably more Programming... writing a paper for my religion class... physics HW... CS HW... and probably some more stuff that I can't remember.

Current Music: Beatles - I Saw Her Standing There
Current Mood: Sugary
So I've started playing Final Fantasy for NES. The original FF. This is old school. But it still has the same great music, just with fewer notes. In this one there's no predefined characters, so I went with a Fighter, White Mage, Black Mage, and Ninja. And, of course, this game is being led by the Cromwell Posse, as you can see in the screenshot. And I'm eating Cap'n Crunch right now (hence the Sugary mood). Also, it appears that I will be in charge of the IEEE Lan Party Committee. So wish me luck in all my nerdy endeavors. hehe

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a big sports fan, but this series has been INTENSE. Could this be the year for the Red Sox? Coming back 0-3 to force a game 7... will they do it? Only Tomorrow Will Tell... once again, whoa.

Current Mood: Tired / Eerie
Another early morning at work. I have homework due today, and a test to study for, but I'll do that later. I recieved many compliments on the painting hanging in the living room. I hadn't told anybody about it, I just put it there. And we (2 of my rommates and bunch of girls) were sitting in there; and one of the girl's asked about it. Before I said anything, one of my roommates said, "I dunno where that came from, but it's an original." smile To me that sounds like, "It's really nice, and is good enough to have copies made of it." I was told I need to get it framed too....

So, I said my mood was 'eerie' that's cause things were strange this morning. The wind was bustling, it's kind of warm out (very odd for october in Provo), the leaves were scraping along the cement, there was a hollow lone train whistle in the distance.... It kind of felt like I should be watching my back to make sure nothing tried to grab me. crazy

I made brownies last night, from a mix, they were good... I hope some are left when I get back tonight...

Ahhhhh.... relaxin' chillin' hangin' doin' nothin' not usin' the 'g' in -ing....

Feels pretty good. blush Homecoming weekend... no one in my apartment went to any of the Homecoming Dances (there's like 5-6). Football game tonight... I'll sit at home, maybe watch it if it's on... play video games... not study for my Physics test... not get started on all the work that's probably due this upcoming week.

Hung up the picture of PhilaU Sandy painted me. It's in the Living room... It needs to be bigger... It's a big wall... and the painting looks very small in comparison.

Beat Max Payne 2 today... A very good game... can't wait for the movie to be made... It's a game that's feels like it came from a movie script... Great Storyline.. Great character development... It's a film noir story about a cop who gets framed / set up... has to battle his way through the mafia; while avoiding the Police.....

It has come to my attention that this page still doesn't show up properly for some browsers. The only instance I've seen is when running Mozilla Firefox from within Linux... So all you poor Windows-only users shouldn't have a problem razz

Enjoy your weekends everybody.

My brain feels about like sludge... I think it's about to shutdown for awhile.... I don't think I'll even bother looking at homework I have due tomorrow.. I'll do that tomorrow....

I want to open my box from Sandy, but I want to wait for her to be 'around.'

There aren't words for it. The only way to express it is by the 'sigh'. The sigh of contentment, happiness, longing, sadness... the bittersweet sigh of nostalgia. Looking back on life and knowing how happy those times were. Looking at all the pictures of Sandy I have and it not being enough. The picture Sandy drew of us... (sigh)... I was looking at pictures from the Band Trip to Disneyworld.... That feels like forever ago... Random pictures from Heather's house, Jan 4, 2003. Sandy's hair was soo short... We've been together for about... 8 inches now... (hehehe). Well... I guess I'll go to sleep and dream about happy times, surrounded by friends, doing nothing at all... just being... just existing... and being so happy to do it. (sigh)

To all that might read this: treasure the past... treasure your friends... it's the people you're with that make you happy, not how much money you have, or where you live.

(sigh) sad

Before coming over here I had to fix a girl's laptop.... And so it begins... you fix one, word spreads, and pretty soon you're fixin' everyone's.... oh well... I like fixing stuff.

I complained to my video card company about it not working properly. Hopefully they feel obligated to fix that problem. It should be under warranty, its only 11 months old, so I could probably just send it back to them and make them send me a new one.

Well, it's game time.. have fun everyone big grin big grin crazy big grin big grin

This is looking much better than it did 3 days ago. The color scheme is working well. Everything is displaying how I want it to. I apologize to anyone viewing this in Internet Explorer... The sidebar thingy doesn't show up in the correct spot... I'm working on that... stupid non-standards following Internet Explorer.

If anything doesn't work right, or looks funny, leave a comment about it.. I'll get it sorted out, eventually.

BYU lost to UNLV today in football, it was sad.... But I'm, once again, glad I didn't buy an All-Sports Pass this year, to watch us lose. Matt Payne got another tackle on a punt return. It wasn't as good as the ones against Boise St. But the fact that he gets them at all is fun.

Ok, it's 3:30am... I've been working on this all night to get it to look nice for you all... I'm going to sleep. blush

Well that's one thing down. I still need to go take my CS test... and a chem lab... I don't wanna...

I feel like I should say something profound on here... but I don't know what...

"So the compression and expansion of the longtitudinal waves cause the eratic oscillation, you can see it there, of the neighbouring particles. Yes what is it? What , whayt it?....No you can't play with it, you won't enjoy it on as many levels as I do." -Professor Frink teaching Kindergarten

Long day, did some more setting up of this site, so things look a little bit better.

I'm still trying to figure out why the emoticons don't work this should be a frowny face: sad But I don't think it is one.

The guys in my apartment made shirts for the football game tomorrow. The shirts say: Matt "House of" Payne. For our kicker, who's been amazing this year. He's taken down the running back returning his punts 3 times, each with extreme power. They were hilarious to watch. The guys a machine.

I've got a CS test tomorrow, along with a test for one of my religion classes: "LDS Marriage and Family".

Good thing I've got my computer built, Sandy's beating me in the rankings for "Folding @ Home"
------- 51 tubagirl 2741.0
------- 53 Amitola85 2686.45
Those rankings are just within the Forums.AMD.com team. I'll be moving up with this new rig.

If you don't know what folding@home is: It's a distributed computing project that does research to determine how/why proteins fold the way they do. This will lead to cures for diseases including cancer. It could also lead to a greater understanding about proteins, which make-up enzymes, which make the world go round..... or so says high-school biology. For more info visit http://folding.stanford.edu

Maybe I can get some more people reading this if I talk about something interesting... but I don't have time for that tonight. So to my 1 reader (Sandy): I love you, good night.

So I'm learning all about how to make this function correctly... and only learning a little at a time. So hopefully this will look better as time goes on and I figure out how to make it look nice.

I can't get the smiley faces to work properly, but that will come with time.

UPS screwed up and now my motherboard and processor are somewhere in the Nevadan Desert.... maybe they were delivered to Area 51.. .hmmm...

This computer I'm using is about 5 years old... and really, really, crappy. If UPS doesn't get my stuff here tomorrow, I'm gonna be pissed.

Feel free to try things out on here, like Karma, I'm not sure what it is or what it does, but feel free to try and use it....

If anything doesn't work, let me know, and I'll try to figure it out. I'm pretty sure comments are working now.

Hello all,

I finally got a hold of my brother who helped me figure out why this whole thing wasn't working. And, lo and behold, now it works. :-) So, as I stated in "Music" I'm at work, and I get to leave in 15 minutes, and hopefully build a new computer.

The UPS shipment appears to be confused. As according to their website it is out for delivery... in Sparks, Nevada.... a couple hundred miles from here.... hopefully it shows up magically. smile
