Quick everyone check your watch, I think the year just changed to 1984.

We, the United States of America, now have an official Department of Propaganda. Ok, Ok, so it's not like the Department of the Interior, or Department of Defense, but it was created by the Pentagon to, quote:'fight "inaccurate" news stories.' Can that really be interpreted in any way besides 'propaganda'?

That is lame.

On the plus side, Mozilla Firefox 2.0 was released yesterday, if you haven't already, cruise over to www.getfirefox.com and install it today.

So I've been really busy, hence the almost 2 weeks without a post on here, but I decided to take the time to update the site, and add a post.

My plan is to soon come up with a new theme for the site, that is, the next time I have time to go through the process of designing a new theme (it's not as easy as you may think to get a set of colors that work well together.)

So the most exciting that's happened at work recently is that we re-carpeted the lab... oooOOOooo. Oh, I guess I didn't mention the field test we did, that was pretty sweet. See the website: Field Test 10/14/06 ... And feel free to ooOOoo and Aaaaahh over the website (that was my creation, adapted from the CS department theme, with some fancy enhancements of my own, including standards compliance). I've also gotten another step done on my current project. I have verified that we can use our current data with the new graphics system libMini. Now I just need to add a section of code to the terrain texture synthesizer that will cut up the heightmap data into tiles that match the image data, not difficult, just will take some time to get done and done right.

Then I can start piecing it all into Aviones, and when that's done, well, it will be pretty darn neat.

Outside of work?

Things are good. Allie and I spend a fair bit of time together (read: all time that neither of us are independently busy.) We went up the canyon with people last Friday to have a campfire, which was much fun. See Brady's blog for pictures and details on that. Tonight Allie and I are going to International Cinema to see "The Seventh Seal". Which I actually saw freshman year. Stephen on our floor had it, it's interesting.

Nothing too profound today. I did get approval to do my Creative Project for History of Creativity on government reform and the role of government in a technological society. I plan to write it as a set of treatises on the subjects, which I plan to post here as I do them. (I'll likely be taking the post I did previously about reform and expanding it into a set of treatises, with further ideas added.)

Life hasn't slowed down as much as I would have liked it to. I've still got all sorts of crazy things going on that I'm trying to keep up with. We're doing another field test on Saturday for work, hopefully things will go better than last time, there's been a big push to have the hardware working for sure before we get out there, so I have high hopes.

As it is, that fills my weekend when coupled with Allie's Unfortunate Party on Friday to celebrate the 13th and Final Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events book which is to be released on Friday, the 13th... how convenient.

Short update on life:

Friday:
Officially entered into a relationship with an awesome girl, Allie.

Saturday:
Hiked Mount Timpanogos from 1:00am to 10:00am. Slept from 11am to 6pm. Went to Jess's for a random party of sorts. Baked a cinnamon-swirl cake for Josh's Birthday, ate said cake with Josh and people. Amount of General Conference watched on Saturday, 0.

Sunday:
Watched morning session of General Conference while waiting for family to get act together for family picnic. Had KFC with family up at South Fork park in Provo Canyon. Took various pictures with family at said park. Returned to Grandma's and "watched" last half of afternoon session of Conference. (By "watched" I mean listened because the image was basically static.) Mom, Dad, and Megan leave for Idaho; which is step 1 of Mom and Dad's car trip back across the country to Connecticut with my aunt and uncle. I get home to my apartment and do something... I don't remember, sit and chat with people mostly I think. Take a walk with Allie, which lasted much longer than it probably should have considering how tired we both were, all well. Oh yah, After UPS screwed up the delivery of my paintings and managed to get them to my house in Connecticut, my Dad brought them out for me on the plane on Saturday, so I have those, and I'll put pictures up eventually, they're spectacular, THANKS SANDY!

Monday:
Allowed myself to sleep in an extra hour and a half. Got up and showered, was about to go to work, but decided the apartment was disgustingly filthy, so I stayed home and cleaned the kitchen and the living room and my room. I went to Physics, because it is insanely mind boggling, and then came home to work on a lab I have due tomorrow.... speaking of which....
