Thanksgiving
27 November 2004 @ 03:19 AM MST
Current Music: Good Charlotte - Say Anything
Current Mood: Relaxed
I've been needing a few days off for a long time now. I should be working on my Chess Program, and maybe I'll start on that tomorrow. Just kicking back and relaxing the last 3 days has been good though. Earned ~130 at work; Ate awesome Thanksgiving Dinner (but forget to steal some leftovers); Finished up watching 24 Season One; Got my Video Card back, actually a different one (different serial numbers) but XFX wants to pretend it's the same one, oh, and with a new card everything works fine, but XFX can keep telling themselves their card wasn't bad; baked some chocolate chip cookies (mmmmmm, tasty); Watched Pirates of the Carribbean, The Italian Job, and Red vs Blue Season 2 (all while getting paid at work).

Only 2 things could make this weekend better:
1) If I didn't have to do my Chess Project.
and
2) If Sandy were here with me...

But She bought plane tickets, so I get to have her visit in March (Woot!)

Everyone's going to get all up-in-arms about this next part; but whatever:
So Monday night (technically Tuesday Morning) at ~2:00am I think my right lung started leaking a little. But I had projects and homework due Tuesday that I was working on, and it didn't really hurt, so I just dealt with it. I slept fine, and Tuesday went alright, with only a little pain when I was outside, breathing cold air. Wednesday was about the same, and Thursday started out similar; but by the end of the day it seemed to be a bit better. Today there was only a slight discomfort while I was outside, and seems to be fine at the moment. I didn't have any subcutaneous emphysema like I did the first time; if I had, I would have gone to the hospital. I think I'm fine now, and that my body managed to heal itself.

Also, one of my CS teacher's daughter went to the hospital last Thursday with a collapsed lung. (Which probably means she had a pneumothorax). So we had a grad student teach our class.

Oh, and one of my co-workers drilled into his leg, and missed the major artery by 1/4 of an inch. The doctor told him that if he had hit the artery he more than likely would have been dead. He didn't seem overly concerned about the whole thing, but he was hopped up on painkillers and stuff....

So that's all the fun in Utah, how's everyone doing?

The best I can do, is keep myself so busy that I don't have time to be lonely....

Current Mood: lonely
Went and watched Contact and my arms felt empty, and my head had no one to rest on... Only 1 month and four days until I get to be back in Connecticut. I felt lonely... I should stop watching movies with groups of people... If I'm just sitting in my room watching them on my compter I'm fine.... Which reminds me... I need to check Special Relativity equations to see if they had their math right in the movie.... They said that for someone traveling 26 light years, at the speed of light would seem like 4 years to them; but 50 years to those on Earth... I think their math was off; but between Length Contraction and Time Dilation I couldn't remember all the formulas to check it in my head...... well if they assume they were moving at the speed of light then time and space cease to be important. I don't feel like making up a speed for them to move at; but I'm safe in assuming those numbers don't work very well...

Note: Adding alot of peanut butter to brownie mix makes them cook alot faster; and causes them to be gooey and crumbly at the same time...

Makes No Sense

Current Music: Blink 182 - Dammit
Current Mood: Not too bad
ok.. so This makes no sense:

(From CNN.com)
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - ABC affiliates in at least eight states will not televise the network's broadcast of the World War II film "Saving Private Ryan" because they fear repercussions from U.S. regulators.
....
Janice Wise, spokeswoman for the FCC's enforcement bureau, told Reuters it had received calls from broadcasters asking if the film would run afoul of the agency's indecency rules. Wise said the commission was barred from making a decision before the broadcast "because that would be censorship."

So basically, stations can air anything they want, but then the FCC can fine them for airing it; but the FCC can't tell the station if they'll be fined for airing something, because that would be censorship....

That's like saying I can do anything I want, but you can punish me after doing so; but you can't tell me what I'll be punished for doing, before I do it, because then I wouldn't be free. Anybody else see how this is like passing a secret law, and then arresting people for breaking the law that no one knows about?

Example: I'm driving on a road with no posted Speed Limit. I feel that 40 is a safe speed for this road (and suppose it actually is a safe speed). I'm then pulled over because the Speed Limit is actually 30. They just couldn't post it because then it would inhibit my freedom to drive whatever speed I wanted to...

SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THIS MAKES ANY SENSE AT ALL!!!!

Halo 2 came out yesterday, I won't get to play it though, because I'm too busy to even go out and buy it... So I'll just get it for Christmas and play all next semester when things should lighten up.

Red vs Blue released 2 episode yesterday and is in the process of releasing another one... www.redvsblue.com

I sent my Video Card into XFX AGAIN. Maybe this time they'll figure out that there IS something wrong with it; since it produces the EXACT same problem in 2 completely different systems. Grrr.. they're making me angry.. if they don't replace it this time I'm gonna have to just call up and ask for managers until someone does something to remedy the situation.... This is just ridiculous; it's not like I want a brand-new top-of-the-line video card from them. I just want the one I paid for, and I want it in Working Condition.....

So I've finally updated my webpage. It now just redirects to here; so nothing special, but, ya know... I'm still trying to come up with something interesting to do on it, so if you have any ideas; let me know... I was thinking I might put up little How-To's and troubleshooting guides for common Computer Problems....

Then when you all have problems, you can look in Kyle's Troubleshooting Guide to fix your problem instead of bothering me razz jk ... That probably won't happen until next semester, but hopefully will happen then.

My last 2 weeks have been solid programming. So much so that on Sunday when I attempted to write a paper for my religion class I kept ending my sentences with semi-colons (which is how you end statements in C++ and Java). I have finished for a day... then I need to start on my Java program for my 236 class. I also have a test in all, but one, of my classes that I must take between now and Tuesday.... (Sigh).... Next Semester is going to be nicer...

Oh, yes.. I must not forget to register for classes in ~8 Hours...

It snowed here the other day, just a light amount.. nothing stuck.. but the mountains are covered in snow. It was really cold at the beginning of the week.. Must've been like 20's or something... It's warmer now though.
